Here's what we know about hybrids and elderly pedestrians.

Hybrids are quiet cars which some people can't hear.  They are beginning to pose problems for some pedestrians who have relied on hearing cars.

Don't get me wrong.  I love these cars.  My brother recently drove up in a brand new Toyota Camry Hybrid and I was sold.  These cars get seriously  good gas mileage, and they're not too bad looking.   

But there's another side to the coin.

Congress is looking into House Resolution 5734 which will study how to protect the blind and others from being injured or killed when they can't hear these cars approaching.

How  will these affect our aging parents?

Fact is, it affects all of us because many of us  are pedestrians who walk, jog and dog walk around our neighborhoods.

Still, there's something about a car engine that is very quiet which really appeals to me as a driver.  I want one- badly.
