Baby Boomers Update Senior Centers
By admin on Sep 28, 2008 in Social
Senior community centers won't be the same now that baby boomers are beginning to arrive.
Everything from Nintendo Wii video to motorcycle clubs are replacing the old stand-bys of shuffle board and bingo.
And why not?
Today's new seniors don't even like to be called seniors. And they certainly don't like to be thought of as just sitting around in a community center.
In fact, many activities have to be planned around boomer 'seniors' getting off from work.
My opinion is that people are living longer and their later years are richer because of better health.

Great article," US senior centers plan for boom of boomers", by Stephanie Reitz. Good to see the mind set has changed about aging, and there are people doing something about it. Why should a senior center be sedate. I feel that a fair balance will be created in the new era of senior centers that will work for the older seniors and the boomers, that will eventually reside in these facilities.
