By admin on Apr 14, 2009 in Health
A super stomach bug is threatening the elderly as well as hospital patients.
The bacterium bug, known as clostridium difficile, is estimated to have infected 350,000 people in the U.S. last year with 80 percent of the infections happening in health care facilities.
It is a deadly stomach flu that kills around 15,000 to 20,000 people each year.
What’s more frightening is antibiotics can’t seem to stop it. In fact, many experts believe antibiotics actually help it.
It can get so bad for some patients that they have to have their colons removed.
We need to be aware of dangers like this bacterium so we can better protect our aging parents.
