Dreaded Colonoscopy for Aging Parent
By admin on Oct 29, 2009 in Health
We’re going through the dreaded colonscopy at my house.
My Dad, who is 83, is currently drinking the prep liquid.
That means, we’re all involved in one way or another.
Let’s face it. It’s a difficult test.
Improvements have been made, however.
He no longer has to drink as much of the liquid. He is only drinking about half the amount.
I’ve always wondered why a person who only weighs 115 pounds has to drink the same amout as someone who weighs 250. Maybe that’s just me.
Now my Dad can have lime flavored Gatoraid and some jello. That’s major. Before you had to fast totally.
He can not have the orange Gatoraid which is what I bought yesterday, but at least he can also have some chicken broth.
But I have another question.
Why can’t this test get easier?
I guess I keep coming back to the pillcam, which we have written about before.
My question is why can’t a pillcam be used for this test? Why can’t the colon be photographed by a pill cam from the inside, instead of the way it is being done now?
Here is more interesting information about the pillcam
