Are You Fall-Prone?

Fatal falls are increasing alarmingly and the government is worried.  Since 2005, there have been 19,000 deaths from  fall injuries and as many as 500,000 hospitalizations.

Now new research is proving that something can be done before it is too late for many seniors over 65.

What is being discovered is that many people slip but don't fall.  That's because they are able to maintain their balance in spite of obstacles such as things they trip over.  This is important because  as older people age they become less able to adjust to these circumstances.

Doctors are finding that the symptoms for falling can be treated before the older person becomes a statistic.  Not only can the aging people with this problem get the attention they need, but their fall-related problems are often treatable.

This is good news for aging seniors who fear falling and the loss of independence that often comes as a result.
