A Great Way To Slim Down: Walking

If you’re interested to melt off some fat, you’ll also want to begin exercising regularly. Maybe you’re new to exercising or you haven’t exercised in a long time?

Sometimes it may seem a bit too much and even a little bit dreadful. Not to worry, there’s a quick way to get back into exercise: walking! Make sure that you incorporate walking with any other workout you are currently doing.

There are lots of ways to mix walking into your day-to-day routine. You and your dog can both work out by taking a 10-minute walk around your vicinity. Just consider, 10 minutes a day is equals walking a minimum of 70 minutes each week. Walking your dog twice each day will double that number. If you aren’t living far from work, try walking there, or at least some of the way. Obviously, if you live a two hour walk from your work place, it’s not such a good idea to walk there daily (but feel free to try if you believe you can do it!). It’s not unreasonable to walk to get to your workplace and it will give you one hour of exercise every day going back and forth. If you ride a bus to work, merely walk to the next bus stop so that you do a bit more walking in the day. Its not hard to add in walking.

Walking is wonderful for your general health. Because walking is a form of cardiovascular activity, you’ll burn up calories while also getting rid of those excess pounds and improving your cardiovascular health. Unlike running, which can put stress on your joints, you can walk at any pace that is comfortable for you. My brother is very lean (but he chows on a lot of junk food) and I ask him how he he can stay slim. He assures me he has no idea, but he did tell me that he does a lot of walking daily. It made perfect sense when he mentioned that. The simplicity of walking makes it unimaginable to come up with reasons for not doing it.

If you can get into the habit of walking daily, it will come naturally to you and you’ll find it easy to lose weight. Because walking is not an exhausting exercise, it’s better to remain motivated and stick to your program. When you have been walking on a regular basis, you’ll perhaps want to up the intensity to receive even more benefit. If you sense you’re ready to move on to something harder, don’t be apprehensive to do it. Go faster when you’re walking and, if you like, try jogging for short distances. The next step will be to add even heavier workouts.

There should be no excuse for you to not walk a short distance daily. Even if you have a lot of things on your plate, you can take out 10 minutes to walk around the neighborhood, or if you have a gym membership, nip in and do 30 minutes on the treadmill at a slow pace to start off with.
