Type 2 Diabetes Hypoglycemia May Be An Additional Risk for Dementia
By admin on Apr 15, 2009 in Family
Type 2 Diabetes Hypoglycemia, or excess insulin, may be a cause of dementia, according to the Journal of the American Medical Association.
The study was conducted over a long period of time and involved thousands of senior patients.
One alarming finding is the high probability that even one episode of hypoglycemia which is dangerous enough to send the person to the ER might be enough to trigger a much higher dementia risk.
Also, the goal for a very low glycemic target may actually be causing more harm than good.
