Temper Tantrums Among Top Elderly Care Problems

Temper tantrums is one of the big elderly problems we don’t like to talk about.

It’s embarrassing and we feel very inadequate as caregivers when loss of temper and anger happens with our elderly parents.

I’ve found an interesting article that talks openly about it and is reassuring to us all that we’re not bad caregivers because a tantrum is happening.

We need to remember a lot of the elderly don’t realize what they’re doing.

Often times they are stuck in a body that is no longer functioning properly. Add a “muddled mind” to that formula and you have the perfect storm for an anger display.

Another great piece of advice from this article is that the tantrum will probably be over as quickly as it began.

Anger from the elderly is often fleeting frustration, just as it is with children.

Develop your own individualized system for coping and that will get you and your elderly parents through it all.
