Should Nanny Cams Be Put in Nursing Home Rooms?
By admin on Jan 12, 2009 in Family

Would Nanny Cams in nursing home rooms help stop elder abuse and neglect?
I wrote about this yesterday on our new social site, Aging Parents Authority Community.
This new community is an active place for our new forum where we can really talk about those issues that we think are important.
I think we need a place where we can feel comfortable and be among others who understand what we are going through as we try to give our aging parents the best care we can.
So I started a conversation about nursing home abuse prevention and some of the ways we can actively stop it.
One suggestion has been to put in surveillance cameras, like nanny cams, in the rooms.
I don’t think this is a good idea.
I don’t think it will make any difference. I’m basing that opinion on how surveillance cameras are operating on the streets in cities such as San Francisco.
Here is a report from San Francisco and from the looks of it the cameras are not stopping crime.
I don’t think they will stop abuse crime against our elderly in nursing homes either.

What do you think?
