I got diabetes when i was 13 years old, and didn’t get a blood sugar checker until I was 16. Blood sugar checkers were new and expensive back then, and the insurance companies wouldn’t pay for any of it. I have insurance that pays for strips now, but I know that many diabetics can’t afford insurance, or can’t get it. Cheap diabetic supplies are now available online from places like Craig’s List and Oodle. These sites have medical sections where people are buying and selling really cheap diabetic supplies. Many supplies are close to being out of date, or are out of date, but that doesn’t mean they won’t still work. While I wouldn’t buy my insulin this way, it’s a great way to get cheap cheap blood sugar strips.
