Special GPS Device Will Help Stop Alzheimer’s Sufferers From Wandering

GPS device for Alzheimer'sA special GPS device in shoes will help stop those suffering from Alzheimer’s from wandering away from home and caregivers.

The technology breakthrough will give peace of mind to care givers and will help keep Alzheimer’s patients safe without disturbing them.

It is being developed by GTX Corp and will alert family and caregivers if the Alzheimer’s patient leaves a  designated area.  This area will be set up by computer and the shoes will trigger if off.

Since statistics show around 60 per cent  of people who have Alzheimer’s disease will get lost at least once, it could potentially save lives.

It is interesting to note the GPS device will also be able to pinpoint the person  exactly within 30  feet.

That’s a great idea if they remember to wear their shoes or put on the right pair. Maybe a similar device on a necklace that can’t be removed would be even better.

This is an outstanding idea. But what happens when they don’t wear the shoes. Maybe build the tracking device into a necklace that can’t be removed instead.

Great idea. Maybe a GPS on a bracelet/anklet/or ring is a good thing too. :-)
