Pill Microchips Will Help Keep Better Track of Medications
By admin on Apr 13, 2009 in Care

Pill microchips will not only empower patients but will also help doctors provide better care.
These microchips can be digested and will be able to activate a harmless electric charge as drugs travel through the stomach.
A sensor patch device can be worn by the patient which will monitor the times drugs are taken, and forgotten to be taken. That info will be sent to doctors who can keep a close watch on the patient’s activity.
Trials will be underway soon, and if this technology is successful it could be a huge breakthrough for the elderly and their caregivers as well as anyone else who takes medications regularly.

What a great idea. My father recently passed away and my mom made sure he took his pills. She was always forgetting but he would remind her. Now that he is no longer there, the only thing I can do is believe her when I ask. However, I know that her memory is not so good and she may have thought about taking her meds and never did it. I will have to check this out.
