Parenting Your Parent: Does Anyone Understand?

Probably not.  Not unless they have been through what you’re going through.

Issues start coming up such as driving and meals.  You have to take the car keys or you need to start fixing at least one meal for them a day.

Then there are the falls.

The first one is probably the scariest.  Your parent falls and you just know he has broken his neck.

When the injuries are light you’re relieved, but you know there will be more.

Finally, there’s the fall down the stairs where you have to pick your parent up and carry him back up the stairs.  Normally, it would be impossible, but the two of you manage as he sits on a step and ascends one step at a time, with you  pulling him up from the back.

Forget about calling 911.  He won’t let you.

So if your friends, co- workers   and even fellow church goers don’t understand, that’s because they can’t picture it.  It’s stanger than fiction.
