How to Avoid Nursing Homes

Are there good workable long term care  alternatives to nursing homes?

Will it be  possible for most seniors to age in place- in the comfort  and security of their own homes?

Yes, according to trend-setting financial planners.

But there's a catch to the good news. Most financial planners are not taking into account the health conditions of their clients as they age.

Since people are living longer, long term planning must now  involve a  whole lot more than just insurance.

And you needn't worry if you can not afford a personal financial planner for your long term care needs.  43 states are now putting  more client friendly services into place that will take the emphasis off nursing homes.

What are some of the  needs your future plans should include?

You will need to be ready for monitoring your own health conditions yourself with a little help. (The average 75 year-old has three chronic conditions). Your home will probably need to accommodate you with widening doorways, special lighting and ramps.  You may also need help with such traditional nursing home care  activities  as bathing and cooking.
