Aging In Place: A Popular Alternative for Retirement

Aging in place is becoming a popular alternative for retirement.  It is a good alternative for retirement homes and communities because it helps allow seniors to stay in the community where they really want to be.

Many seniors like the idea of staying near their old neighborhoods and families and actually want to be around younger people.  They don’t want the isolation of retirement communities which have been popular in the past.  Today’s seniors are active and more involved in their communities, and  aging in place gives them the option of retrofitting their homes for their needs.  That may involve such innovations as hand rails in baths and larger doorways for wheelchairs.
