Does Your Eldercare Include an Adequate Disaster Evacuation Plan?
By admin on Nov 1, 2007 in Care

Last week’s heartbreaking California fires remind us more than ever of a need for an eldercare evacuation plan.
These stressful situations can cause an elderly person with dementia to become more confused and frustrated.
The Alzheimer’s Association has a step-by-step checklist for adequately preparing for any disaster with your senior.
For examples, have you packed your senior’s dementia’s medical history, medications, physician information and family contacts?
Do you have plenty of portable oxygen on hand if your senior relies on it?
Have you packed extra medications, a favorite pillow, incontinence products, as well as extra sets of comfortable clothes?
The Alzheimer’s Association checklist also give excellent valuable advice for helping your senior to avoid agitation in times of disaster.
A practical working disaster plan should be a part of everyone’s eldercare management.
