Tips for Aging in Place

Want to age in place?
Are you planning on staying in your home as you get older, or are you trying to help your aging parents stay in their homes as long as possible?
Here are some very important tips for avoiding nursing homes while you continue to live the way you choose to.
1. Electric Stoves and ovens instead of gas. Safer, since elderly persons could accidentally leave the gas on.
2. Bathtub converted into a shower. Safest for bathing and can be easily converted these days
3. Large handles on kitchen cabinets. Helps aging persons grab better since many may have arthritis
4. Bathrooms with color. Stay away from all white bathrooms because older eyes can not see as well unless there is contrast.
