New Stem Cell Research Promises to Make Embryonic Use Obsolete

The latest stem cell breakthrough involving human skin cells promises to be one of the biggest medical advances in 50 years.

What makes the new discovery different from  past embryonic research is that embryos are not used at all.  Therefore the debate concerning the killing of human embryos for science is basically over.

The new, more efficient method involves taking one skin cell and injecting it with four genes.  It then becomes an embryonic skin cell, which can later grow into skin, bone, or organ.

This breakthrough came from Wisconsin researchers who were being supported by President Bush's Alternative National Institute of Health

Many experts believe, most, if not all of human embryonic stem cell research has ended.

This new discovery also  has tremendous potential for the treatment of diseases suffered by an aging population.

The implications of someday being able to reproduce skin, bone and organ tissues will not only  save lives, but can greatly enhance the quality of life for the elderly.
