Warning: Get Prepared for Aging Now

Liz Taylor, the other Liz, has some excellent advice for anyone over 50.

Prepare for aging now.

In fact, her advice could be prudently heeded by 'youngsters' under 50.

She gives compelling arguments.

"Most of us can expect to live a long time…"

True. Statistics are proving that so.

"Unless there's a cure soon, a significant number will have dementia…"

We don't generally want to think about that either, but statistics back it up also.

Taylor goes on to talk about our boomer generation taking all the major institutions by surprise.

She spend her elementary years in portables.  I spent mine in the basement of a college dorm. (I attended kindgarten through college on a college campus.)

One of the 6th grades (we had three) was literally stacked up in a closet.

We need to take heed. Maybe we got through school okay, but we may not fare as well  with future medical and health care.  What will happen when we overwhelm those institutions?

Read LIz Taylor's last column for the Seattle Times- Planning for senior years needs to happen now.

Note: She is starting her own newsletter, Aging Deliberately
