What If You Must Quit Your Job to Care for Your Aging Parent?

Your biggest problem is you’re the only one in your family who can care for your aging parent.

But you will be forced to quit your job to become your parent’s full-time caregiver. What about your lost income?

Fortunately, this serious caregiving issue has been addressed in many states. Some states will pay family members to care for elderly parents.  If your state does not, and your elderly parents have the financial means, you could write a caregiver contract and your parents could pay you directly.

That’s great to know. I’m 26, but already concerned about my aging parents. I find myself running “what-if’s” through my mind more and more the older they get, so this is good to know that if I do have to care for them, I may be able to earn a livable wage doing so.

I was pleased to see the information provided, and know that I am not alone in this fight. I am single mother with 3 children. And my father was stricken with a stroke in 2005. My mother and I have gone through the financial hurtles which have resulted in several unforeseen issues. But, overall God has blessed us tremendously.

I have decided at the beginning of the year to bringing my father home from the facility on a more often basis oppose to taking him out or visiting him onsite. I know that it will be a trying time, but my children and my mother are very supportive, and we will make it through. He is and was a great man before this tragic stroke was inflicted upon him. We will endure through this!

    Will keep you informed
    Sincerely,

    PK Daughter
