Much Needed Tips on How to Talk to Your Aging Parent

 "Aging Well: Tackling Tough Talks from Afar" has some very good advice on how to approach your aging parent when major decisions have to be made.

One of the biggest mistakes caregivers make is not treating  elderly persons like  adults.

I think an excellent point is summed up in this sentence.  "Accepting needed help does not make people dependent, but taking away the ability to make their own decisions makes them feel dependent," says Susan Collins, assistant professor of gerontology at the University of Northern Colorado.

Several important tips are given on how to communicate with your aging parent which can help you get important decisions made, often with your parent’s help and cooperation.
