Home Health Care to Replace Many Nursing Homes?

Home Health Care

Forbes has an interesting post on home health care and the future of taking care of the elderly in their own homes.

I believe this is a coming trend, mainly because it will be too expensive to care for our aging parents in hospitals or nursing homes.

High tech will be involved with new devices that monitor older seniors for diabetes, chronic heart failure, lung problems, and other health conditions.

Will all this work?

General Electric and Intel believe in it enough to be investing $250 million in a joint project.  That's a lot considering today's economy.

$250 million isn't much for GE. The trend is certainly in that direction, however. The federal government creates incentives for states to promote at-home care, it's where elders want to live anyway, and it makes financial sense.
